CURT Class 5, 2" Trailer Tow Hitch
When we came to the limits of towing capacity, we wanted to know what else was out there. What could we discover off the beaten path? So, we kept going. CURT class 5 Xtra Duty hitches begin a class of their own, beyond class 4 and beyond anything the standards dictate. They are designed for the hard road where only full-size pickup trucks, vans and SUVs dare to tread. They are capable of pulling almost any heavy-duty trailer, including toy haulers, dump trailers, logging trailers, small yacht trailers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). This particular Xtra Duty class 5 trailer hitch offers a gross trailer weight capacity of 16,000 lbs. and an extra-high tongue weight capacity of 2,400 lbs. It features a 2" x 2" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory, such as a cargo carrier or winch mount. It is designed to be a custom-fit trailer hitch for certain years of the long-bed Chevy Silverado 2500, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic, 3500, 3500 HD or 3500 Classic and long-bed GMC Sierra 2500, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic, 3500, 3500 HD or 3500 Classic (to verify compatibility with your vehicle, see application info). For a little extra towing power and stability, this class 5 hitch can also be used in combination with a weight distributing hitch. It is rated for 17,000 lbs. WD and 2,400 lbs. WDTW. In our drive to create a more powerful hitch, CURT has not neglected the finer details. Our class 5 trailer hitches are welded with precision and go through multiple stages of cleaning to create a smooth surface that is ready to accept our co-cured finish. To protect them from corrosion, chipping and UV damage, these hitches are immersed in a liquid A-coat and then finished in a high-quality black carbide powder coat. They come with grade-8 mounting hardware for solid installation.

Trailer Wiring
CURT custom wiring is the best option for equipping your vehicle with a trailer wiring connector. It offers a vehicle-specific solution with no need for cutting, splicing or soldering. However, if custom wiring is not available for your specific vehicle, CURT offers the taillight converter -- a universal trailer wiring option. This CURT taillight converter provides a standard 4-way flat connection for hooking up your trailer lights to your vehicle. It features highly durable construction, able to withstand harsh elements, road salt and vibrations. The converter is built with a potted enclosure in which the electrical components are encased in a solid compound that seals them off from moisture and impacts. Even when mounted outside, underneath the vehicle, it provides long-lasting dependability. This taillight converter is compatible with a wide variety of vehicles, including models from Dodge, Ford, GM, Honda, Kia, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo and many others (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). The converter is designed to convert a 3-wire vehicle system to function with a 2-wire trailer system. The converter features color-coded wires and a wiring guide for easier installation, and it comes with snap locks for a secure connection (a powered taillight converter wiring kit, such as the CURT #55151, is also required for installation). Most CURT taillight converters are constructed with surface-mount technology or SMT. This type of circuitry features smaller electrical components that mount directly to the face of the circuit board, resulting in reduced heat generation, enhanced performance under vibration conditions, maximum light intensity and maximum operating life. CURT converters are also fully tested, both optically and load-tested, to ensure reliable performance.
